A Gift from the Sun God
According to ancient legend, the Sun God bestowed the “Pearl of Light” upon his daughters. This mystical pearl held the brilliance of light and the soul of music, emitting sound as pure as starlight—a dialogue between ocean and sky. His daughters sealed this divine gift in a pair of exquisite vessels, naming them Nelis.
Just like the myth it embodies, the compact form of the Nelis ND-1 holds immense energy, transcending the boundaries of bookshelf speakers to craft a sonic landscape that is warm, transparent, and full of depth.
Flowing Lines and Artistic Craftsmanship
The speaker’s side panels feature an elegant curved profile, formed using a time-consuming low-frequency cold-pressing technique with premium imported birch plywood. This process ensures consistent temperature during pressing, achieving structural stability and smooth curvature.
This visual grace is paired with superb acoustic properties. Carefully calculated and verified through extensive testing, the internal structure incorporates precision acoustic damping materials to eliminate unwanted internal resonances and standing waves—refining the soundstage into something pure, deep, and immersive.
Precision Sound Imaging
The half-moon shaped front baffle compensates for phase differences between drivers, ensuring wavefront alignment and time coherence. This significantly reduces distortion caused by time delay, resulting in pinpoint imaging and a spacious, dimensional soundstage—offering a vivid and lifelike listening experience.
Premium Internal Wiring
The high-frequency crossover uses a single-core silver-plated conductor with a Teflon insulation layer, protecting it from oxidation and signal loss—delivering a clean, transparent treble response. The low-frequency crossover features OCC (Ohno Continuous Cast) single-crystal oxygen-free copper wiring, providing detailed sound while maintaining warmth and richness in the mid-lows. The result is a naturally full-bodied sound that balances resolution and musicality.
DMD Tweeter Meets Neodymium Precision
At the heart of the ND-1 is USHER’s patented DMD (Diamond Metal Diaphragm) tweeter, offering an extended frequency response up to 40kHz.
To further enhance performance, the new tweeter in the ND series adopts a ring-shaped neodymium magnet structure, increasing magnetic flux density and improving overall motor system efficiency. Combined with a shorting ring design, this allows for fast and accurate transient response. The CNC-machined bowl-shaped faceplate carefully shapes the dispersion pattern, improving high-frequency directivity while minimizing interference in specific frequency bands. The result is an incredibly low distortion level, preserving delicate, nuanced treble detail.
Big Sound from a Small Form
Nelis ND-1 shares the same 7-inch mid-woofer found in USHER’s flagship Grand Tower. This driver features a German-made composite cone using loosely compressed wool and wood fiber, treated with a proprietary damping compound. This combination minimizes distortion and offers excellent dynamic control—delivering
rich detail, natural midrange warmth, and fast, weighty bass. Even under high sound pressure levels, it maintains precision and clarity, laying a pristine tonal foundation for any listening space.
